The ChestIQ programme is focused on accelerating AI innovation in Chest X-Ray (CXR) diagnostics while maintaining the highest standards of safety, clinical evidence, and regulatory credibility.
This is a senior, accountable role designed for an expert who can independently lead, make architectural decisions, and deliver high-quality AI solutions in a fast-moving, regulated healthcare environment.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior AI Engineer (Vision Language Models / Multimodal AI) with deep expertise in medical imaging AI, particularly in Chest X-Ray (CXR) applications.
You will provide senior-level AI leadership across foundation and multimodal models, guiding architecture, evaluation strategy, and end-to-end delivery. You will work autonomously while collaborating closely with EU and India-based engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
Lead architectural decisions for CXR-focused foundation and multimodal AI models
Design and implement vision–language alignment and radiology report generation solutions
Develop and optimize large-scale model training workflows
Build and maintain DICOM-based medical imaging data pipelines
Define and execute robust evaluation strategies using appropriate clinical and NLP metrics
Provide technical thought leadership and proactively identify and escalate risks
Collaborate across time zones with distributed development teams
Ensure AI solutions meet clinical safety and regulatory expectations
Required Experience & Skills
10+ years of experience in AI / Machine Learning / Computer Vision
Proven experience in medical imaging AI, preferably Chest X-Ray (CXR)
Hands-on experience with foundation or multimodal models (vision-language models)
Strong proficiency in:
PyTorch
MONAI
HuggingFace ecosystem
Practical experience working with DICOM data and medical imaging pipelines
Experience in AWS and cloud-based development environments
Experience with:
Vision–language alignment
Radiology report generation
Evaluation tools/metrics such as BLEU, ROUGE, CheXbert, RadGraph
Ability to work independently and take ownership
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in regulated healthcare or medical device environments
Exposure to clinical validation processes
Prior experience in large, distributed AI programmes
PhD or strong research background in AI / Medical Imaging
