Overview
- The main mandate of Markets and Securities Services Operations Technology (MSSOT) Team is to deliver global and local solutions for Global Market Operations to automate / streamline post trade operations and improve efficiency. We are now seeking a proactive and talented IT professional to join our team.
- We are working with a vendor application, Calypso, provided by Nasdaq. The relevant Calypso instance is called FXPT Calypso. We have implemented in-house software upstream and downstream of FXPT Calypso to insulate it from HSBC -specific data and processes; this in-house software is called FXPT. The project overview:
- Expand the use of FXPT and FXPT Calypso to support the increased Business requirements.
- Scope: Foreign Exchange (FX) - Confirmations, Settlements and Accounting
Purpose of the Role:
- Provide a clear set of FXPT and FXPT Calypso work estimates to the Project Team and assist in the implementation (design, configuration, testing).
- Understand existing FXPT Calypso functionality and communicate it to Project Team.
- Understand Project Requirements and categorize each Requirement as follows:
- Requirement fully supported by existing FXPT / FXPT Calypso functionality
- Requirement partially supported by existing FXPT / FXPT Calypso functionality
- Requirement not supported by existing FXPT / FXPT Calypso functionality
- For each Requirement agree a unique reference with Stakeholders
- For each Requirement that requires FXPT / FXPT Calypso effort, work with FXPT Product Owners to create an effort estimate. If required, work with other system teams to provide an end-to-end estimate including FXPT and non-FXPT estimates.
- Before supplying an estimate to the Project Team, ensure it has been added to the central list of estimates and it has been reviewed by other FXPT / FXPT Calypso colleagues.
- Facilitate communication among key stakeholders including communication of work estimates, progress of FXPT / FXPT Calypso implementation.
- Work closely with Product Owners, Developers and QA colleagues to deliver functionality to Production as quickly as possible.
- Ensure the FXPT / FXPT Calypso team understands what is to be delivered before beginning development.
- Agree with the Project Team a testing schedule and go-live (Production) schedule for each delivery.
- If there are expected or unexpected delays in FXPT / FXPT Calypso deliveries, inform all stakeholders (Project Team, FXPT Management Team) and create an action plan to deliver with agreed amended timelines
- Work with the Product Owner and QA to define acceptance criteria and test cases for the new configuration / functionality.
- Create logical and innovative solutions which maximize functionality while also minimizing effort for all teams.
Additional Essential Experience
- A minimum of 3 years’ Calypso software experience specializing in Business Analysis
- FX Post Trade experience - Confirmations, Settlements, Accounting, Reconciliations
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal skills – communication, collaboration, presentation, influencing and negotiation
- Excellent planning and organization skills
- Proficiency with SQL and Calypso Architecture and data model

- Experience of working with people in different time zones with diverse backgrounds.
