We are seeking a driven and collaborative Agile Lead (Continuous Improvement) to join the Digital Business Automation (DigiBA) team within Technology
DigiBA enables reliable, secure, and scalable operations and automation capabilities across HSBC through three core product lines:
Managed File Transfer (MFT)
Service Orchestration & Automation Platform (SOAP) – primarily Control-M
Scheduling (IWS + Automation Point)
This role will provide Agile leadership capability to a newly established technology POD responsible for delivering open-source software solutions aligned to agreed business use cases. The successful candidate will maintain, refine, and prioritise the delivery backlog while supporting engineering teams in delivering high-quality outcomes.
In addition, the role will play a key part in driving a culture of Continuous Improvement by evaluating processes, identifying optimisation opportunities, and enabling efficient and effective ways of working.
Key Responsibilities
Agile Delivery & Team Enablement
Facilitate Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives.
Enable teams to deliver value incrementally with a strong focus on flow, transparency, and continuous feedback.
Coach teams on Agile best practices using Scrum, Kanban, or hybrid approaches as appropriate.
Foster a safe and inclusive environment that encourages collaboration, innovation, and early risk identification.
Continuous Improvement & Process Optimisation
Identify process inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and delivery risks using data-driven insights.
Lead structured problem-solving activities such as Root Cause Analysis, 5 Whys, and Fishbone Analysis.
Map current-state processes, remove waste, streamline handoffs, and improve operational efficiency.
Drive implementation of improvement initiatives with clear ownership, milestones, and governance.
Stakeholder & Delivery Management
Partner closely with Product Owners, Engineers, Architects, Security, Risk, and other stakeholders to maintain delivery alignment.
Support backlog prioritisation and ensure delivery objectives are clearly defined and understood.
Remove delivery impediments and proactively manage cross-team dependencies.
Promote strong engineering practices including automation, CI/CD, testing standards, and Definition of Done adherence.
Metrics & Performance
Track and analyse delivery metrics such as cycle time, throughput, predictability, and quality indicators.
Use insights to improve delivery performance while maintaining a healthy team culture.
Improve visibility and decision-making through effective reporting and data interpretation.
Skills & Experience Required
Essential Skills
Deep understanding of Agile frameworks including Scrum and Kanban.
Strong knowledge of software delivery lifecycles and Agile delivery methodologies.
Extensive hands-on experience with Jira
and Confluence.
Proven experience driving process improvement initiatives within technology environments.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to translate insights into action.
Excellent facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to balance Agile flexibility with governance and delivery discipline.
Desirable Skills
Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD environments.
Exposure to Agile scaling frameworks such as SAFe.
Knowledge of process automation and operational optimisation initiatives.
Qualifications
Certified Scrum Master (CSM, PSM, or equivalent certification).
5+ years of experience in Agile delivery, Scrum Master, Agile Coach, or Continuous Improvement roles within IT or technology organisations.
